Importance of pure essential oils

Essential Oils are a great non-toxic way to make your house smell amazing and to make you fell so much better.  It can provide emotional therapy, help you fall asleep, energize you, help you focus, and so much more!  Conventional air fresheners contain formaldehyde (a known carcinogen) that can wreak havoc on your health. Not something that you want your family and kids breathing in all of the time. So it is absolutely essential to pick an essential oil to even use as an air freshener and to use for your health. When you hear the word “water” what is your first thought? You drink it, you bath in it, wash your hands in it, water your plants, etc…right? But did you know that there are different types of water? Yes!  All bottled water and municipal waters are not created equal. Bottled water may not be as good for you as you once thought.  For instance, your bottled water should come from a natural spring, filtered by reverse osmosis, or distilled. The only time you should drink municipal water is if you have a filtering system in your home. Why? Municipal water is contains chlorine,aluminum, chloride, copper and fluoride etc. So the chlorine is put in the water to kill of other contaminants but chlorine itself is very harmful to the human body! Just a few affects are it is corrosive and damage cells in the body on contact….wow… So what about the fluoride in our water. Well for decades Dr.’s and Dentists have told us it is essential for our teeth. But where is the science to prove this? Well… there is none. My Journey to my CNHP and ND!

So I’ve begun my studies to gain my degrees as a Certified Natural Health Professional and Naturopathic Doctor!  I am loving it thus far and am learning SO much it is incredible. I am looking forward to helping many in the near future. Wish me luck!

An age defying all natural facial!!!

Pumpkin is not only a beautiful beauty food filled with fiber and essential beauty vitamins like beta carotene and vitamin k, but it is also filled with minerals and antioxidants. It makes the perfect age-defying facial. Pumpkin has a natural enzyme called protease, which helps exfoliate dead skin cells and brighten your skin. It is also loaded with vitamin A, making it an anti-aging hero for the treatment and prevention of fine lines and wrinkles. Try using 1/4 pumpkin puree and 1 tablespoon of pure manuka honey for an instant facial treat. Mix it all together and leave the puree on your skin for 20 minutes before you rinse, tone and moisturize. You can follow up with witch hazel as a natural toner. You may not even need a moisturizer after this one until the next day.  There you have it! An even more beautiful you!

Migraines and Food Allergies

Dietary changes may be key for the 26 million Americans suffering from migraines. alone-513525_1280

There may be a link between common food allergens, specifically dairy, wheat, processed foods and migraines.

If you suffer from migraines or other common ailments, it’s a good idea to do an elimination diet to see if certain foods you eat may be causing you pain. During an elimination diet you completely remove a specific food or food group from your diet and pay attention to how your symptoms respond.

If you have severe migraines, it may be helpful to:

-Eliminate all gluten products

-Eliminate the other 10 common foods that the Lancet study found helpful in making 85 percent of participants headache free

-Eliminate all artificial sweeteners, especially aspartame. My sister is one of many who will get a guaranteed migraine if she consumes any aspartame. Obviously, even if you don’t have migraines, there simply is no reason to ever consume aspartame

Focus on eating:

-Unprocessed whole foods

-Often raw or only lightly cooked

-Organic or grass-fed, and free from additives and genetically modified ingredients

-Foods that come from high-quality, local sources

-Carbohydrates that primarily come from vegetables
